Retro Wooden Tennis Rackets - For Sale.

I am selling a beautiful pair (2) of Retro Wooden Tennis Rackets. These tennis rackets are in excellent, and even playable, condition. They were used by semi-professional tennis players on tour during the 1970s in Sacramento, CA. Both rackets are professionally "strung" and are made of fine wood with leather grips. The first tennis racket is a Tad Davis Imperial Delux. The second tennis racket is a Garcia Cragin Presidential Model. Both rackets are considered "retro."

The first tennis rackets were made of wood and were used in the 12th century. They typically had a long handle and a small, teardrop-shaped head. By the 14th century, players were using rackets with strings made of gut bound in a wooden frame. In 1874, Major Walter Clopton Wingfield manufactured the first lawn tennis racquet in London, made of solid wood and wrapped with a leather grip. The wooden tennis racket was manufactured in quantity until the early 1980s when metal and later composites took over. Composite rackets are the contemporary standard, the last wooden racquet appeared at Wimbledon in 1987.

These cool and fashionable Retro Wooden Tennis Rackets can be used today by the "purist tennis player" on the court or as a period costume piece for Halloween or a local theatre production. Also, these rackets would look great being "staged" in a study or rec room by any professional stager. Cash Offers only. Asking $45 obo. Text Max at 91six-71seven-266four.
