This is a 50w master model Marshall amp model 2204. Comes with 4x12 cabinet all original no mods in near mint condition. Also comes with road case for the head.
This is an interesting amp with unique history. I acquired this amp about 5 years ago from a seller in San Francisco. The story of this amp is that it belonged to Ronnie Montrose. His amp tech assembled this amp for him from several other of Ronnie’s Marshalls. The tech took the circuit board of a 2204 which Marshall used in JMPs and JCMs in the later 70’s and early through mid 80s. Put that circuit board in a 50w Master Model chassis which was used by Marshall in their 2204 combo versions, and housed the whole thing in a Marshall head box painted silver on the tolex. So yes, it is a Frankenstein Marshall amp if there ever was one. The power transformer was replaced with a classic tone. Output and choke transformers are drake with date stamps indicating 1976. That coincides with JMP 2204. When I took it to my amp tech in San Francisco to install new tubes go through the amp and check it out he confirmed that the insides matched Marshall’s JMP 50w Master Model 2204 schematics. It has JJ 12ax7’s in the preamp and tungsol 6550’s in the power amp. I have no documentation to prove that this amp belonged to Ronnie Montrose and am just giving the story as it was told to me. The seller I bought it from claimed he bought it from the estate sale along with a fender super reverb after his death. Amp is being sold with Marshall 4x12 16 ohm cabinet in near mint condition all original, and road case for the head.
This amp sounds terrific. Reasonable offers will be considered. Interested buyers can arrange to make an appointment to try out the amp. Will NOT ship.
Thanks,
Matt
