This Fender Partscaster is a unique and extremely well-executed build based around a TL-62EX '62 Reissue Made in Japan Telecaster body paired with an Esq-62 '62 Reissue Japanese neck and a Stratocaster-style tremolo system—a highly versatile hybrid that blends vintage Tele tone with Strat-level expressiveness.
I've seen my fair share of Partscasters, but this one shows some serious prowess and dedication on the part of the person who envisioned and undertook this project. The guitar started out as a traditional, two pickup Telecaster.
Expert routing allowed for installation of the two Strat pickups in the neck and middle positions. The pickups are quality - they sounds killer and look like 60s Fender or Duncan pickups with cloth wire. The pickguard is a Warmoth part.
The Strat tremolo is an ultra-cool touch. The routing in the back looks factory - amazingly clean and accurate work. This is no hack job!
The guitar plays and sounds awesome. You would think it is a factory job. Plus, it plays great! The original frets are full and the neck is straight with room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments. Quality replacements pots and a nice 5-way switch were swapped in for the original parts that typically lack in Japanese guitars. The switch arm was bent down to keep the switch out of the way when playing.
The TL-62EX platform provides the classic double-bound ’62 look, while the Nashville-style pickup layout adds flexible switching and a massive tonal palette. The Strat tremolo brings smooth vibrato capability without sacrificing Tele-style clarity.
Japanese Fender bodies and necks are known for outstanding craftsmanship and tight build tolerances. This guitar delivers bright, articulate Tele response in the bridge, a warm and punchy middle position, and round Strat-like sweetness in the neck. The tremolo operates smoothly and holds tuning well, making this build ideal for country bends, expressive leads, ambient textures, and versatile session work.
Hybrids like this are favored by Nashville session players and touring pros who need Tele bite, Strat versatility, and rock-solid tuning stability.
A PRS gig bag is included.
