What's it all about:
A traffic control flagger is a trained professional who regulates and guides vehicles and pedestrians safely through and around active work zones, utility work, or road maintenance.
Duties and responsibilities:
Protect laborers from moving traffic while preventing vehicle accidents
Direct the flow of traffic using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and handheld flags
Site Setup & Teardown: Place and remove construction signs, traffic cones, and barricades
Coordinate with other flaggers via two-way radios to control traffic and keep the crew informed
Requirements & Physical Demands
Certification: Must be certified and trained (often through ATSSA or OSHA programs)
Must be able to stand, walk, and reach for 8 to 12 hours while frequently lifting 40 to 50lbs
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, or night shifts)
Safety Gear: Must wear high-visibility PPE (safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses)
Supply your own over-the-ankle steel or composite toe boots
Must haves:
Drug screening
Flagger Certification
Schedule: Monday thru Friday (no weekends) with varied hours depending on demand
