Job Ad: Experienced Line Cook (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Location: The Foodie Café, 999 Marauder St. CHICO CA
Position: Full-Time / Part-Time Line Cook
Compensation: hourly + tips / DOE (meets or exceeds California minimum wage + overtime requirements)
We are looking for a seasoned, reliable Line Cook to join our busy kitchen team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, take pride in consistent execution, and can handle the heat (literally and figuratively), we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do:
Execute high-quality breakfast, lunch, and dinner service on the line (grill, sauté, and other stations)
Maintain precise cooking times and temperatures for food safety and quality
Read and follow recipes accurately, including portion control and plating standards
Expedite orders during peak hours, ensuring timely and accurate ticket execution
Demonstrate strong knife skills and proper station setup / mise en place
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team in a high-volume setting
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace (following all CA health codes)
Requirements:
Minimum 2+ years of professional line cook experience in a full-service restaurant
Proficient in grill, sauté, and multiple stations across breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Strong understanding of food safety, times/temps, and proper cooking techniques
California Food Handler Card (ServSafe or equivalent) required or must be obtained within 30 days
Ability to remain on your feet for 8+ hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen
Punctual, reliable, and dependable with a strong work ethic
Team player with a positive attitude who can handle pressure during rushes
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Ideal Candidate Also Brings:
Experience with high-volume service or scratch cooking
Knowledge of food allergens and cross-contamination prevention
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts
Passion for great food and commitment to consistent execution
