Thrive Homeschool Program
Distance Learning Teacher Tutor
Love working with kids and want to help them with their distance Learning school work during this crisis in a safe environment following CDC guidelines?
Thrive Homeschool Program is putting together a program to support families and students while they are unable to go to school in person. Kids will attend our program in small consistent groups and bring their distance learning work. Distance Learning Teachers will support them to complete their work and tutor them as needed. Teachers will also provide hands-on projects and activities and recess time.
We will be following all CDC guidelines with entry health screenings, extra hand washings, frequently sanitized and cleaned rooms and spaces, small consistent groups, six foot social distancing and masks when needed. Our facility has large rooms with adequate space for arranging seat work and large windows for ventilation. We also have lots of outdoor space including 3 separate outdoor playgrounds so you can do a lot of teaching outside and allow for play time without mixing with other groups. We are a fully insured business that has been serving homeschooled kids for over 10 years.
We are looking for quality, caring staff who have experience tutoring, teaching or helping kid’s with their school work. Credentialed Teachers will be given preference and higher pay rates but credential is not required. All grade levels TK-12th with majority of groups being K-4th. You will mostly be following the curriculum and work already assigned by the child’s school with some minimal curriculum creation of your own. You will have all responsibilities for helping with school work, parent communication, recess duty, and health and safety of each of your small consistent groups of kids. There will be a director on site to assist with any emergencies or short breaks. This is a half day program so if you work with 2 groups you will have a child free lunch break. Teachers will also be allotted paid prep time for set up and clean up of their room, prepping hands on science and art projects and communicating with parents.
Program starts Sept. 8th for students and Distance Learning Teachers start part time August 24th for trainings and set up. Interviews will be August 11, 12 and 13 and can be done in-person on site with social distancing or via Zoom. Once we begin we will follow the Chico Unified calendar for days on and off/holidays. We are not affiliated with Chico Unified but hope to form communication with the teacher’s assigning their distance learning to better support students.
Work 9 to 40 hours per week depending on your preference, schedule and number of small groups you’d like to work with. 40 hour teachers will only have 4 small groups. No guarantee of hours and no benefits (except for 2 weeks paid sick leave).
Everyone will be hired on a month to month basis with no contract depending on student interest in the program. We will run this program as long as it is needed in the community. That could be 1 month, 5 months or more depending on the status of COVID in our county and guidelines set for schools and other businesses. After that candidates may consider a role in our traditional program if they are interested and there is a position available at that time.
