This is a 1957 Chevy Pickup (3200 – Long Bed). It’s been in my family since the late 1980s when my dad bought it. It went between him and me in the 90’s and was eventually parked in 2003. I brought it up to Chico a few years ago, and my son and I have gotten it running and driving reliably, and I’ve gotten it registered. We’re going to miss her, but the next chapter in her story needs to happen under someone else’s care.
Some things about the truck:
- It was made in the Los Angeles factory and had the optional 283 cubic-inch V8. The factory engine blew up and was replaced with a 350/Turbo 350 combo out of a Monte Carlo. That also blew up, and was replaced with what was available (and free) at the time: a 235 Straight Six with a 3-speed manual out of a 1956 Chevy Sedan. That engine and tranny are still in the truck.
- It has rust.
- The fuel system from tank to carb is all new.
- The battery is new.
- The front wheel bearings have been upgraded to new, modern-style roller bearings
- The wheel cylinders and brake lines are all new, and the master cylinder was honed and had new seals installed.
- The headlights, taillights and brake lights all work.
- It starts, runs, drives and stops.
- It’s registered through August, 2026 and I have the pink slip. You’ll be able to transfer ownership with the DMV from your couch.
I’m not offended by low offers, so feel free to make one. It’s hard to know exactly what this truck is worth; there aren’t many like it. It needs love, it’s never going to be a show truck, but it’s a legendary year, make and model, and it’s pre-smog. You can really do anything you want with it. With some work, it could be a pretty cool old truck.
