POSITION: Teen Counselor SALARY: $8.00-8.25 hr.
HOURS: 2--7 M & T; 2-8W-F
Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Unit Director, the Teen Counselor develops and implements programs under the five core program areas (Character Development & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, The Arts, Health & Life Skills, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation). Must be cooperative, friendly and create a safe and harmonious environment. Abide by and support the Club mission, to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive and responsible citizens.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
1. Supervises members for the Teen Center.
A. Maintain the up keep, safety, security and appearance of the Boys & Girls Club;
B. Coordinate & implement spontaneous recreational activities;
C. Maintain maintenance of all recreation equipment and facilities. Report supplies needed for facility and programs as needed to supervisor;
D. Maintain all required paperwork to track programs, member participation and grant requirements;
E. Work with staff and parents/guardians to recognize members for good work & disciplinary problems that may occur at the Club;
F. Provide direction for volunteers in order to stimulate participation in programs;
G. Must provide quality customer service by meeting and greeting the public, parents, members and outside groups who enter the facility. Be prepared to provide guided tours and answer questions.
Other Duties:
1. Abide by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley Policies & Procedures;
2. Attends local training’s and workshops in the field;
3. Attend staff meetings and other Club sponsored events;
4. Abide by Federal and State Laws.
5. Must provide quality customer service by meeting and greeting the public, parents, members and outside groups who enter the facility. Be prepared to provide guided tours and answer questions;
6. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Operations and Unit Directors.
Requirements:
1. First Aid & CPR certified;
2. Pass TB test;
3. Pass FBI and DOJ background check;
4. Must be approved as a driver by our Club auto insurance provider;
5. High School Diploma or GED;
6. Complete and pass fingerprint based criminal history checks;
7. Must have at least one year experience recreational programming with youth.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
1. Require the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend;
2. Require the mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects;
3. May require to ability to stand for long periods;
4. May require the ability to walk long distances;
5. Required to attend evening meetings and/or travel within and out of Butte County to attend meetings;
6. Required to work evenings and weekends;
7. May be required to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.

Under general supervision, to provide a variety of responsible clerical office support for the Upward Bound grant, and to perform related duties as assigned. Two years of experience in program support or operations required. Community college experience and background similar to the program participants desired.
